Ok i have a 1.4 SRi Vauxhall Nova. Ive drained the cooling system, flushed it. But i cant fill it. I know that there's an airlock in it now but i cant find the right hose to disconnect to be able to get rid of it when i fill it back up. So far there is 2L of anti-freeze in the cooling system resevoir, and needs another 4L of water (the capacity is about 6.1L the haynes manual said.)

Please could anyone help asap as i really need the car by 9!
Any help much appreciated, a diagram would be really really helpful too!
Thanks
Dex

just start it up without the cap on... it will self bleed

not necessarily - and if the head has no water in it you could shag the engine

remove the temp sender nipple on the back of the inlet manifold (blue wire goes to it) and u should hear the water glugging round the system

once water comes out the hole, put the sender back in and then fire it up and let it "selfbleed"

i've never had to do it like that...

just pour water in

give pipes a few squeezes

start car

top up while running

but if your running with the coolant, wont you spill some? or even slip over and spill it on yourself?

think of the health and saftey aspects of running with a can of fluid. :)

remember to set the heater to hot, and fill it up, stick the cap on, run it for a few minutes, and then refill if necessary.

im with steve here
i just fill the thing with water , squeeze the pipes , fill up again , start the engine and just let it run untill the level no longer goes down, topping up as required. when finished stick the cap on.

never been a problem and you wont knacker an engine.
when i change a head gasket i allways run the car for 5mins with no coolant.

aragorn, your method is a bit complicated lol!

not necessarily - and if the head has no water in it you could shag the engine

the waterpump will pump it through the system before it gets hot!
