dunno bout the 6x9s, but the subs are deff good, i had the 2 10" in the bandpass box and they were very loud for the money, but of course there is better stuff out there,

Imo there cheap and nasty, the big box will slow your car down and will leave you with no room what so ever in your boot.

For the ?70 or maybe a little extra you can by a boxed 12" sub such as a pioneer, Kenwood, sony from places such as

www.bassjunkies.co.uk

Although theese are not the best they will give you better bass as they are 12" and will also take up half the space the double 10" box would and also weigh alot less.

You will get different awnsers from everyone mate, i personnally think splx are cheap shit and i would never even think about wasting my money on it, ok its good for someone who is on a low budget but dont expect miracles and definatly dont expect it to last.

Personally id spend a little more and get something the will give better bass and also last.

Lol, good advice there, TBH there isnt much stuff out there any worse than SPLX, it really is cheap crap. Granted they might go pretty loud, but they sound terrible and wont last long.

Never run oval speakers and a sub in the same airspace. The volume of air moved by the sub can - and will - do significant damage to the spider of the 6x9 speaker, not to mention fouling your sound stage right up.

ditch the 6x9 idea right now!

and buy a pioneer TS-W305C instead.. much better for the money. or see if you can buy a RE SE12 second hand, that is a bad ass pimp sub, u need a good amp to run it at its best tho.

good starter system is a simple one, good front speakers, 4 channel amp, sub.. done..

also if ur a bit of a streetbass head then make a ported box, otherwise if ur a SQ head, keep it sealed.

1^ft sealed should do you.
ported do 1.7^ft tuned to 35hz for alround bass
or for streetbass do 2.2 tuned to 33hz.

As Onnie says, the enclosure you choose is important.

A poorly designed and constructed enclosure will make even the best subwoofer sound poor, whereas a budget sub in a well designed enclosure will perform reasonably well.

Remember...unless you are a real basshead (as in IDBL level), you don't need kilowatts of power to make a system sound good.

It helps...but its far from essential.

why not have a full range like me :D

a set of tweets (where the old front speakers where)
a set of splx 6x9's
a set of kenwood 6x9's
a set of Jvc 6x9's

2xJBL 10" Subs
1x Splz 15" Subs

Subs running off 2 channel Splx amp
6x9's runnin on 2 2 channel Jbl amps

AND I WILL SAY, IV HAD MORE TROUBLE OF THE JBL STUFF THEN THE SPLX

SPLX is good stuff, as long as you keep it cool

just thought of something. as ill be running my bassbox off of the stereo, ill only be running the sub through the amp, i wont actually be running the bassbox aswell through the amp, so im guessing that ill only need a 400 watt or higher amp for a 400 watt sub? the bass box dont come into the amp thing? coz its just comin from the speaker connections of the stereo.
