yer you'll need gte engine and box, wiring loom and all the exhaust system

might also need to swap the fuel pump out for a corsa gsi one too

you should be able to use your existing driveshafts

the gte engines are "pre-cat" so do not require one for the mot

doesnt matter if ur car is a k plate as long as the car was registered before the end of august 92. cuz i checked up cause i got a k plate nova and put a 1.3sr engine into it.

u could put a 1.3sr engine in a spanking new corsa on an 03 plate and still get thru an MOT

it goes on whichever is older, the car or the engine

that loom u linked to should come with the engine?

if it doesnt then find an engine that does have it

the original 1.2i wiringloom will simply be disconnected and left - the gte loom is totally self contained

and quickly to the record for mots, no nova ever needs a cat regardless of age there simply not on the ministry of transport list for emission cat testing so get it ditched

the bit on ebay is just an engine loom, and not in any way a conversion kit.

The old gte 1.6 engine should already have the loom on it....
if it does not, then don't buy it.

what you need is the engine, gbox, rad, ideally fuel tank (but not necessary if the existing tank has 2 pipes), gte fuel pump assy (easy to find under back right corner), throttle cable and exhaust .
the wiring is actually very easy, and can be done with a haynes manual.
there are only 4 wires needed.

one connected to the battery live.(big red)
one connected to the ignition live.(black)
one for the fuel pump.(red/blue)
one for the telltale.(brown/white)
all of the others are used from the existing car loom, ie: starter, alternator, gauge senders, radiator fan etc.

A good weekend's work and you should be motrin'

he'd be easier retaining the intank pump system and just using a cav or corsa gsi pump

it goes on whichever is older, the car or the engine

depends how much of an @rse the MOT station is

it clearly states in the book that it goes on the year of the engine or car whichever is older

the vehicle owner has to prove the age of the engine however

that might be the case, but the book also says obstructions to the front window are not aloud (single wiper)

neither is two stone chips in the sight of the driver,

bulbs have to be the right colours.

my ball joints were shot, inner tyre bald because of camber

etc etc i might go on, but my car still passed the MOT. and that was legitimently. the book means naff all. the mot tester does as he pleases in most garages. and thats a fact.

ah but mike if you can prove the age of the engine then he refuses to pass it coz of a lack of ca then you can then directly complain to the ministry of transport who will tell you to get it tested elsewhere and refund the costs of both mots(been there before) provided you can prove the age of the car. i always make a note of the car reg, copy of the v5 and a letter from the seller with reference to the age of an engine for this reason
