Common Nova Problem when engine hot

Hi Guys, my 1.2i nova when the engine is hot will not idle properly, it idles at very low revs and sometimes just cuts out all together, it also causes the engine managment light to come on. I've heard this is quite common in novas, can anyone help or know what is wrong. By the way its fine when the engine is cold. Thanks.

i think you need to clean the idle control valve. however im only guessing. other cuases would be its got an air leak on the inlet manifold, or somewhere in that area, blocked exhaust maybe
