View Full Version : Engine comes out tomorrow.

Well, the time has finally come for the 1.6 8v to come out. Between now and next Saturday we have to totally strip the bay, grind it all back, fit H. Hockley plate kit and prep for painting. Then I have to go to Germany for a week.

Once back, it'll be painted on the Saturday and engine in on Sunday.....

Yes that's right, 1.6 16v on TBs with all the trimmings, then some.

It's not a well kept secret but I'll not spoil the suprise on that score just yet. It's going to a good home for a special project.

is the 1.6 8v block the same as the 1.6 16v block?

Also what car's the engine coming out of? is it 109 or 106bhp?

Hi,

Yes there are some very minor casting diferences but to all intents and purposes it's the same. It came out of a 1998 Astra Sport but as to BHP it's a little academic really as it's been totally re-machined.

Sneek previews will be posted on our web site for those of you really interested but I'll reply to this thread to let you know.
