hey guys, i havent had my Nova long but im planning to mod my car suttle. But im considering converting my one.2 to a one.6 gsi engine. i know sumone who will do it cheap but i wont do it for a few months yet, im also considering gettin stage 4 head work done at the same time because this guy is doin a very good deal.
But id like to know what i shud do whilst preparing for the engine. i know i will need new breaks but what are the best. will i need to strenghten the chassis etc. any help will b appreciated thanks
You will need big brakes, I got them and the stopping power is great and they don't fade.
You have cheap choice or expensive:
cheap: scrappy and get astra GTE/GSI 256mm discs calipers and bracket things. Also get a GSI or GTE nova brake servo to compensate for the bigger brakes.
expensive: buy one of those aftermarket brake kits, or go to 4 pot calipers and stuff, no servo needed then and you will decellerate faster than....well things.
As for the engine I want to do the conv. but don't know how to do injection, I was gonna do a webber on a 1.6 block and F13 box but would like injection.
Just to clarify the Nova GTE/GSI brakes are 236mm disks and arent much better than the 1.2 brakes!!
Cheapest way is to get the Mark 3 Cav 2.0L calipers/disks, as these are the same as the Astra GTE 16v items.
I am near to both of you (pretty much) and will help any way I can (I brake Novas you see!)

So which brakes would be better, the astra 16v or the cav 2.0l brakes. and how much am i lookin at because i might need them asap due to the mechanic sayin my front brakes are not workin causing rear to lock which is not nice when i need to brake quick. And i guess i will need new fuel lines n pump but im hoping i will get that along with the engine n driveshaft.
The guy that will fit it for me says he can re-wire my nova to suit the injection.
is there ne fing else worth knowing in preparation for the engine.
