Does anyone know if the ecotec engine out of a cav 2.0 16v LSi is the same engine as the GSi cav engine? Does it have a different ECU or anything?? Im tryin 2 source an engine for next years 2ltr upgrade of me SRi

definately dont get the ecotec lump mate, only 130 bhp from a 16v lump!the cav gsi lump is an earlier redtop, with nearer to 160bhp, much more potent. the ecotec is a restricted version of the redtop, restricted so as to meet the eu emission regulations at the time.
get the redtop!

cheers for that mate, what is it that restricts the engine though?? I always thort it was the ECU??

prolly cams head and ecu are all "worse off"

2. ANGLE OF THE VALVES

....But there are a lot more lower mileage ecotec engines around
than Red Top valver engines, plus they're cheaper.
