just wondering when you remove your engine do most people drop it out or lift it over (detached from the gearbox?) what way is best? i aint to bothered about which gearbox i use. 1.3-1.4sri conversion
what extra things need to be done if you drop it down underneath?

Personally I drop It out. I place my jack under and take the strain of the engine undo the engine mounts and lower it down on jack. NOTE front of car is best to b quite high to enable the engine to pull out.

I got a pallet
drove the car over it
un-did everything and took bits out (radiator, hoses, wires, etc)
un did the back engine mount
(do on side at a time)
take the wheel off,
take out the strut,
the track control arm,
the bottom wish bone
disconnect the steering arm
pull the drive shaft out
do the other side
The front of the car should now be sitting on the pallet
undo the other 2 engine mounts and make sure every thing is disconnected,
heres the hardest part :D
get a mate and lift the front of the car over the engine, make sure you mate can lift it first cos you don't wanna be dropping it now do you?
lay the car down on something, preferably soft or wooden (I used a couple of breeze blocks with some wood on top
then put it back in
nice one mate very detailed cheers.

done it both ways and IF you can get a hoist (hire ?30 a day) it is so easy.
takes about 1hr with a hoist and 4/5 without (depending on you knowlage of course  )
