I went to get my timing and carb setup on my 1.3SR because it had flat spots. They told me that they would do their best but my vacuum advance units diaphram was knackered. Is it worth replacing the unit? :?:

yes

also take the dissy apart and check the weights / springs are still intact and tight. if they are loose then they will cause flat spots in running.

Do you know how to tell if they work?

What you have to do is suck on the pipe that is connected to the vaccuum unit (undo it from carb) and if you can't suck any air through then it means it's working fine but if you can suck air like a straw then its crap.

I tried at a scrappy and the 3rd one i tried was good so i guess that its quite a common problem.
