my mate has a problem with his 1.2 nova
it's loosing oil and one of the cylinders keeps clogging up the spark plug, is it gonna be a piston ring or sommant more complex like a dropped valve as it recently had a new head gasket and had the head skimmed.
is there an easy way to tell (comp test) or is it a rip the engine apart job?

unsure of a proper answer to give you

BUT

when stu gsi had piston ring problems a DRY compression test didnt show any results when he KNEW one of his rings had gone.

a WET compression test however did.

what they use to make it form dry to wet i dont know!? oil, water, petrol?

but anyway

do a "WET test" if your going to do one at all.

cheers mike
a wet compresssion test is where you put a few drops of oil into the cylinder, it's meant to fill holes in the rings or sommant like that to give a better reading on the tester.
might just rip it apart an have a look for him
