wel it might jus be a 1.0L 8v but its a quick one when you hit the motorway tryin to keep up wiv the regal astra coupe and the beast on the way back from MK meet!!
here's the proof.....
http://img6.photobucket.com/albums/v20/furiousnova/DSC00529.jpg
i hope no pigs see this but if you do then it was in a place where are no speed limits!!!
ok it might not be ova 100mph but i promise it got to 105mph but as i went to take the other pic, my camera said the memory card was full and when i made space we hit traffic!!!
wel there is the proof for people who didn't think 1.0L 8v novas could do it!!!

Im surprised its even running with the temperature not registering and the battery light on!!!!

battery light is above and is a red light anyways, thats the manual choke light, it stayes out from where the car was re-welded.
haven't bothered to fix it yet!!!! but doesn't effect the engine, jus cant pull it out as much anymore. jus need to pull it back through.
and the car was half way through cold if you look, turst me it was, curisin bac at night jus b4 christmas, hradly gonna get warm at 100mph is it????
Fergie.
nova speedo are never accurate i remember puttin a post on about it when i first joined
* waits for ste's pic that must be coming
i believe u mate i nearly got 120mph out of my 1.2i, it was on a motorway with a little bend in it, the bend must have helped.i had a mate in with me to proove it! the little bstard could'nt arf shif.
The faster you go the more inaccurate your speedo gets! best way to tell is on a R/R!
Also, why are we bothered your car does 100mph! weve all been there n done it!

With the original clocks, my white nova did 115mph..
Changed them to SRI clocks and got 105!

the only way to deffo tell is with an ap22, all car clocks are inaccurate but ive heard nova's are worst then most!?
sorry to piss on your fire mate but its more like 85/90

nice 1 mate if it is true!! but the temp is abit low and the battery light and the fact the trip says u have not moved its doubtful!!

nice 1 mate if it is true!! but the temp is abit low and the battery light and the fact the trip says u have not moved its doubtful!!
goddam, super sluth or what 8) i would never have noticed
besides i got my 1.2 showing 104mph on the clock with the 17's on, GRRRR
doesnt puttin bigger wheels on efect ur speed even more?
blingmachine
09-01-04, 11:08 PM
bigger wheels makes it read lower
well so ive been told
AnThoNYnOvA
09-01-04, 11:18 PM
yes bigger the bigger the wheel the less acurate the speedo is, like 16" if it says 40 your prob doing 30
blingmachine
09-01-04, 11:28 PM
nah, its the othere way round
its all to do with the rolling radius of the wheel, as the speedo is set to the rolling radius of a 14inch whell its knows how many turns of the wheel there are in one mile.
As 17inch wheels have a greater rolling radius you whille cover more ground before one full rotation of the wheel is complete. There for making the speedo inacurate. So your going faster then speedo thinks your. There for making the speedo read lower.
although this really doesnt become a noticeable factor until around 70mph
Either way, 100mph on a cold engine isnt very clever! :?
Years ago, had my 1.0 up to 110 (indicated), but that was shit, coz it was still slow!!
NovaNeil

Thats not all together true, just because a 16" wheel is bigger doesn't mean the overall rolling radius will be bigger!
A 16" wheel with 195 45 16 Tyre actually has a slightly smaller Rolling Radius than a Standard GTE steel wheel (14") with its standard 175 55 14 tyre (or whatever the tyre size is, can't remember now)
So in theory if the speedo was accurate you'd be going slower than what it says on the speedo
hmm me thinks tahts a laod of pish.
the choke light is orange not red ;) lol
and anyway i had my speedo showing 110 but the gps said 95lmao
but hey you can have your little moment of stupid joy.
i mean taking pics of your speedo is iffy to begin with, and as for "deleteing pics so i could get more on" fucking idiot.
my gsi would go off the clock when i fitted the didgy dash it wont go over 114???????

fcuk off cambridge, dont call me a fcukin idiot. wots the point, your the idiot mush for callin me one.
the choke stays out caus of the poor weldin, the trip clock is broke, i was doin 100mph or what eva on the motorway in the feezing cold so hows the engine gonna read that its hot? only gets hot when sittin in traffic.
and i jus wanted to post up caus i remember ages ago people said a 1.0L top speed would be about 85 so i'm proovin them wrong, and my mate in his cavvie was drivin behind me and his clock read 100mph too!
dont piss me off.
end of subject, dont bother replyin.

my 1.0 Litre Saloon does 105 mph on the clock which aint bad but thats not topping it out... should mean its probably more like 95 - 97 mph... sommat like that...
its r8 scary in my 1.0 litre... the wide arched on feels alot safer at those types of speed

on the way back from chesterfield last year my m8's 1.2 5dr merit read 122mph on the clock  i kno the clock was way out tho, be more like 95, he went on bout for ages 2 !!

There was no speed limit, where was you on an autobahn or something?
1.0 novas should do a ton, my mates old d reg 1.0 polo did and that was fucked
I cant work out why the temperature gauge is showing cold when he's doing 100mph though
i got 125 on clock till engine went crack bang wallop!
I believe this picture to be falsified on the basis of temperature and trip meter readings.
For the temperature to be there the car would literally have to be started from cold and pelted directly to that speed IMO.
Can someone confirm what that light is?
Even if it is genuine the car is doing "nowhere near" 100mph!
Kung Festu
fake picture warning light?
Any car on axle stands and being 'driven' gen?
OR
Any attach a drill to the speedo cable gen?
Take your pick (I reckon the latter - or similar)

iv got that speedo and its the
choke
iv got a 1l aswell, but with 3 cold air feeds and when doing over 60 the temp drops right down and only builds up when sitting in traffic
steve-o
11-01-04, 10:51 AM
the only way the temp will stay there is if its only just been turned on, however fast your driving it WILL NOT stay reading no temp
basically youve just been caught out you sad little fuck.
How can your choke light stay on from poor welding? melted the wires n joined together?
why dont you just dis-connect it from the back of the choke nob?

im sorry but i have to reply to this one.
i dont know bout the light or bout the trip counter BUT i can confirm he was doing sumwhere around 100mph. i was sat in the beast in the same convoy as him - most of the time traveling at around a ton. this was on the way back from mk.
yer the speedo may be wrong and it may look a bit dodge with the trip and light but lets not be out of order calling fergie an idiot. the truth is that was wot his speedo read, the pic isnt fiddled.
the arguement of wether the speedo is accurate is another.

yes rs, cheers mate.
the orange light is the choke light and they had to disconnect the choke to weld the areas!!!! but they didn't put it back properly.
i have to run on choke anyways or the car stalls when at a stand still, jus my fcuked up engine really.
i apologise for gettin 'mouthy' yesterday, jus a real bad day.
later on.

Ive got SRi clocks fitted to my 1.2 carb and 16" rims and last nite racing my mate in his 1.2i nova my clocks were showin just under !20mph now i no the 16s are making the clocks read higher because when i had standard 13s steels on it was showin !10mph, and if im doing 40mph it feels about 30mph, just thought id share that.
Or and just one more thing the carbs are faster than the 1.2i i found that out last nite :D lol

Warp speed Mr Zulu...................
wow is that 3 times round the clock?
use the idle adjustment screw to adjust idle speed and hence no longer need the choke out, give me or anyone your car and a screwdrive and ill fix it in abt 12 seconds while txting, lol
