A website has been set up to deal with an issue of vital importance to every road user in the UK - namely the growing use of speed cameras in the name of road safety.
The website (www.saferroads.co.uk) has been set up by a group called SAFER (sensible and fair enforcement on roads), and they have 2 aims:
To provide access to information showing how misleading (some might even say underhand) the official line on speed cameras and road safety is, and how the authorities' obsession with speed cameras could actually be making our roads MORE dangerous
To give the growing number of road users who are unhappy with the situation the means to do something about it in the form of a petition calling for measures that will improve road safety by addressing the true causes of most accidents rather than merely persecuting motorists
This site and petition are getting an increasing amount of coverage. They are backed by organisations such as the ABD and pistonheads. The aim is to get as many signatures as possible to collate and hand over to the powers that be. The petition is in a PDF format, all you do is download, print, sign it and mail it back to SAFER (address on bottom of form). Why not get your family/friends to sign a form as well, and put them in the same envelope, the more signatures the more chance something will be done!
