Engine Strip Down

I'm stripping down my engine, and so far have removed most of it, but how do you get at the pistons and crankshaft? When I turn the crank bolt (on the driver side of engine) to remove it the crank turns, how do I stop it turning
any help appreciated!

in the changing timing belt section

take the sump off and jam the crank some method, probly a plank of wood between the block and one of the lobes of the crank
