The price in total was around ?350(from memory, it was about 2.5 years ago!!! lol)

I used to run a Mongoose and I have to say that it was the best exhaust I've ever laid my sweaty little paws on.

I've got a full magnex system, i didnt like the tailpipe so changed it for a 4" powerflow one, but it sounds excellent, not too loud, but your still heard coming. Fits perfect, but the handbrake cable touches it and rattles sometimes.

Ive also got a full Ashley system with a 3inch tail. Raspy and not too loud. Quite on the motorway (well it was before i stripped the car out :lol: )

I've been told there Grp N because there made for rally cars, don't know how true that is though.

When i brought mine i went up and saw there factory in Walsall, met the owner and the son. Have to say, they really new there stuff, mind u, it's what you expect when they have been making rally exhausts for 25+ years.

im gonna try jetex. from work (halfords) a full aluminised (spelling) steel system from the manifold (downpipe included, ) to a single oval be ?250 ish quid. but then i'll get 15% discount. :D looks a pretty straight system.
btw; my gsi is a 1993 non-cat model. if youve got a cat andy visit www.jetex.co.uk look under aluminised systems and click youre aplication. shamone!

Thanks people, been a big help.

one thing though... Non-Cat GSi... didnt know there were any non cat gsi's in 1993... ??

The gsi we got is a 1993 - so how can i tell if its supposed to have a cat?

Adam Moran

Might be wrong on this but........

I think it's the engine number:

E16SE = Non-Cat

C16SE = Cat

The number is in the right hand side of the engine just below the cam carrier.

Or just have a look under the car :wink:

well someone at ATS told the missus the other day it aint got a cat on it, and that its a performance exhast on their already - but if its a performance exhaust i am the tooth fairy!! :lol: I reckon they just saw a woman walk in and figured she wouldnt know anything :lol:

There is a nut missing from a bracket thats holding hte exhaust on underneath so it rattles a bit, which is why she went to ATS and they told her she needs to replace the whole system :lol: and it'll cost her 200 quid for standard parts.

What bolts that then? Don't think there are any bolts that "hold" the exhaust up, only rubber hangers.

Can you get any pics of the exhaust?

all i have to go on is what she told me - aint looked myself yet, bit dark when i get up and too dark when i get home.

no matter about that anyway - we're having a new performance system asap anyway.
