Just wondering how hot the sump gets?
Want to paint it black but do i need to use high temp paint or can i use normal hammerite?

It will get up to about 80 degrees which hamerite should be good for. High temperature paint is meant for 400degrees.
i used hammerite for my block and its fine. just smells for a few weeks when the engines warm :D

Well as soon as its in i will get painting.
another question: whats the best stuff to polish the engine block with? Mines painted red and i want to give it a clean.

use Gunk. It's a big orange tin of spray that you spray on, and leave for a while and then wash off. Easy as 1 2 3. From halfords or any decent motor shop

They are black, but mine is a bit dull and the rest of the engine is all new and shiney so its going to get a nice new coat of black hammerite.
