this has probably been asked loads of time but is there a major difference between at 2.0 16v and a 2.0 8v ?

if your thinking of fitting a big block engine then you just aswell go ahead and fit the 16v tbh, they both require the same amount of work and the 16v has a 25-30bhp advantage to start with and adopts to tuning far easier for greater results

k bout the 30bhp, 8v are like half the price tho nd im on a budget so 8v price suites me better

8v feels more torkey. my 8v was 136bhp and 16v are 156. The 8v require a LOT less work to fit. You dont have to hammer the bonnet to close it, you dont have to modify the heater matrix pipes and i didn't have to modify the suspension turret for the alternator either. They also dont have an airbox that you have to modify.

8vs suck compared to 16v (small and big block)

and if your adamant you want a high miler 8v make sure its a 130bhp one and not a 115bhp engine

i brought an entire cav sri 130 for ?100 which was a rear end write off. but went fine. so i took the engine out of that and put it in my nova gte. i made the rear gear box spacers out of washers and kept the same pins, the front gear box mount i left and the drivers side one i made out of a piece of 4mm thick angle iorn. then i brought some re con inner cv joints 34 external splines, 22 internal. these go in the f16 box but also allow the gte shaft to go in them these cost me ?30 inc vat each. i had a welder and engine crane anyway and that is all i spent. ?160. and 4500 miles later i have still not had a problem.

i think the main difference is the price in the engines. eg a good 8v can be ?100-?200 with all ancilleries where as a 16v can be between ?350-?500. that is why i put the 8v in. cause i did not have that much to spend on an engine. but if u have the money i would definately go for the 16v.

2.0 8V AND 2.0 16V are both big block. the 1.6 8v gte was a small block

thats true mate i got mine for ?100 and the engine is mint. i give it some all the time and have still not had a problem 4500 miles later. if u want i will make u a engine mount up for the drivers side, i will copy it off mine as long as u dont mind paying p&p, i will do u a mount for a ?10. or pick it up. i live in stoke.

Cams and head work for 8v is usually half the price compared to the 16v. so costs much less to modify.

thats true mate for a start there is only 1 cam and the head is half the size..

so thhe 16v is faster by a little but costs twice as much and the 8v is a little slower and much much cheaper.
