im thinking about running a 500watt sub and a set of 300watt 6x9s off a 800watt amp. is this a good idea?. if so how will the wattage be transferred to the speakers, will it just pump 200watts into each channel or will it send the power to where it is need ,ie more for the sub
it probabily sounds a dumb question to you experts but i gotta tie up a few loose ends on ICE. especially as i only have 1 RCA output on my headunit. lol
thanx
you can get a spliter for your rca leads and run two seperate amps.
as for the the 800 watt amp, i would probably not put your 6x9's on the amp.
the reason is, even thou they say 300 watt. it is usually a combined peak power. and if your amp does split 4 x 200 then you'll prob blow your 6 x 9's.
it all depends on if you have bought the amp or not.
if you have a good output on your head unit then i'd suggest running the 6x9 off that and get 2 subs for the amp. (800 watt amp into 1000 watts of speakers would sound very loud)
hope this helps

it does, thanx
the down side would be, now i have raed my message is. it'll be all bass from the rear. i'd get some components for the front. this way the tweeter at the front will help put some treble into the thumping bass from the rear.
what have you bought or have you not got them yet?
what type of music are you into. these q's will help us come up with a decent set up for your motor.

was gonna be SPLX 800watt amp, i might just go for runnin theand 6x9s(now gonna be 200watts) and fronts off the head unit and get a 450watt splx amp and a 500watt 12" sub. i cant be assed with lots of amps i just want a system that is pretty loud and iz gonna turn heads.
what do ya think to that setup ??
thanx mate
is there a 600 watt amp available. if so get that one.
run two channel and bridge them into one for the sub. and the other two into the 6x9's (but keep the 300 watt ones)
i had a simular set up on mine but was runing 2 12" subs in the rear and another amp doing 6" components. but i did under power my subs. so yours should sounds loud. at level 24 (kenny hu) the gf was screeming and i couldn't hear her. bit of a blessing really lol

lol
nah they dont do a 600watter which is a bit of a bitch :(
i'd go for what you said before, have a look at the other post on here. those speakers for ?17.99 to go in the front sound like the finishing touch for yours. bass is good but you will get a headache.
either those speakers or some 5" components for the front, you need some treble up front.

thanx for the info :D
I have an splx mf800 amp, it is running a sub(sometimes 2) and a set of 6 x 9 's, if the amp has seperate controlls for channels 1+2 and 3+4, it will be fine, set the 6 x 9 channels to about half way(input level) and the sub channels just below max, run front speakers of the stereo, gives a nice all round thump and balanced sound.
As for running 2 amps, 10 mm will be fine, but watch your lights, had mine dimming with the bass
