As a matter of course I run my Nova on Optimax all the time as thats what its been mapped for..... But last night I put this new BP Ultima in my car, just to give it a try.

I didn't put my foot down as it was icy, but this morning on the way to work I did.

Wow :) , I wasn't expecting anything great, but what a difference :!:

The car flew! Although the cold temperatures helped keep the intake temp down but still! I must of gained quiet a few horses im sure :P

We clocked it from 80mph to 110mph in 4th gear in just over 5secs! It was like a 40 shot of NOS!!!

Has anyone else experienced good gains from it?

I will defo be running it for the 1/4mile

And just after Chrismas the car will be going back on the Rolling Road, so I see if there is any increase for sure.

Opticrap..

Its just full of additives with normal unleaded.

Ultimate is a guaranteed 97 ron.. I wouldn't have thought you would notice a difference unless the the timing was setup properly afterwards though?

never used this new ultimate stuff but if its a gaurunteed 97 ron then i just aswell stick to the super unleaded i use as same stuff anyway. Whats the cost of this bp fuel, is it the same as super ?

yeah, super unleaded is 97 ron anyway!?

doubt a change in fuell would have the effect of 40 shot of 'NOS' either way.

The 40 Shot of NOS was a figure of speech cool.marty

Yes the timing is a little advanced. I've been told It is between 98-99 octane, according to BP where as Optimax is 98!

Supers crap! (in my car) but I tend not to run it because of the timing advance.

Not sure on price. I'll have a look on the way back from work

Optimax is sketchy there is no actual guaranteed RON rating for it

optimax is of higher quality in the northwest

99 RON is very unlikely.

This ultimate is just a replacement for super with a new launch campaign.

You shouldnt notice a vast improvment if you still have other fuel in the tank etc as it would have mixed and you wouldnt just be getting the ultimate fuel through.

You may notice a gradual improvment over the cousre of it wrking through the system after a number of fills with it.

I am in the opinion of you will get better results from sticking to one particular fuel and keeping it.

I've got some Cool Blue at home (106Octane) which will be going in the car tomorrow for this 1/4mile strip and cruise at Donnington!

I'll let you know how I get on..... If it doesn't rain.

neil you defo going? i shud be there but not in my car by the looks of things!!

a friend has done lots of messing about with optimax+ultima.
he's found he gets best results by mixing the two, or just sticking to ultima

Yes Dicko, my new alloy comes tomorrow morning (at last) so I'll be running 3 white wheels and one silver. Also i'll have a black bonnet on, which has some cut outs just to let air in so my cars going to look a right mess :( . But im going to run the 1/4 mile so that won't matter.

In fact I hope the conditions are a bit dodgey because i'll have a better chance of winning the class :) As I can nearly get all the power down on the road in low boost and greasy surfaces........we'll see.

Come and say hi if you see my car. I'll be meeting Karl, Andy and Adam (who I believe you know?!?) when I get there.

Yeah the car had a bit of optimax left in it when I put the Ultima in..... Maybe that helped
