i've been speaking to a guy about some head wor and he said he can port and flow me a head and also for no extra charge, cut in bigger valves(not supply). i need to know if a set of 1600 valves will fit in a 1.4/1.2 head, presuming the seats have been cut to fit. is the valve head the only difference? as far as i know the stems and guides are the same, is this right?

cheers

Cutting in larger a valve seats at no extra cost is a bargain! Can you give me his details, as its not normally very cheap.

The 1.6 valves will go in the 1.2 or 1.4 head, but I think the valve stem is longer, so you will have to go to your local machine shop and order larger valves with the same length stem.

CP has done this so he is the best person to ask.

If you're going to all this trouble then you need to buy valves fron "REC". They make forged (not cast) valves in a single peice. A set of 8 will be about ?100

This guy really knows what he's doing

You maybe better off to buy the 1.4 SRi head for best end results

1.6 valves arent the right length for the 1.2 head.
