Im thinkin to do a brake conversion for my nova 1.2 front brakes.

What is the best brake conversion to go for?

And

What needs to be changed for the front in order to make this conversion?

U can write as much detail as you wish as I need good info to make my decision.

Cheers ppl

first of all what size wheels u got

u cud fit brakes of a gte\gsi nova

or u cud go 4 2.0 16v cav\astra brakes

am sure astra\cav brakes fit 14" wheels except 4 the nova gsi's wheels ull need 2 fit spacer for em
+ if u get the discs and calipers from a scrappy the discs cud be warped i surgest u buy em new!

If you have larger wheels you might consider 288mm Vectra V6 brakes, re-drilled for 4 stud. I've had a set for the last 2 years on mine and they really stop you when you need it.

PM me if you're interested

go for astra GTE brakes, they are a straight swap not hard to do, plus they will improve your brake a lot compared with the 1.2 crap.

Thanx for da info its helpin me make decisions.

I have got 6.5J R15 wheels on my nova.

Im interested in the Astra GTE as Phil Sutton was talkin about.

When you say 'straight swap' does it bascally mean swap the calipers, swap the disks and off you go or is it a lil more complex then that.

Cheers people this is helpin 8)

Yes, just bolt the new stuff on and bleed the brakes. Remember to put the bleed nipple at the top, loads of people get that wrong.

Cheers guys its made things so much easier for me.

One last question Novax said to: 'bleed the breaks'. Is this a must / is there a reason for this?

Thanx a 1,000,000 :D

if you dont you will crash,

its to get rid of the air in the brake lines, as air compresses and will take up the pedal travel and not move the calipers thus your brakes might not work

You could do that, or you could use V6 calipers and then use Lancia Delta HF Intergrale front discs. They are the same stud pattern as a nova and the same diameter and thickness as the V6 brakes. They are vented as standard. I should know cos i have them on mine. A set of standard discs from a motor factors will be around 40 pound. You would still use the V6 pads though.

So summary
Vauxhall V6 Calipers
Vauxhall V6 Pads
Lancia Delta HF Intergrale Front Discs

a long time ago i took me rather a long time to send some bits off. some i didn't send so i sent money back. If anyone didn't get there money pm me and we'll sort it out. I know one person didn't but cant remember who. I've stopped selling stuff now. Only thing i put up for sale was a roll cage but that was collect only.
