Right ive just got a set of Astra GTE wheels, cant be arsed with all these people ramming huge wheels on a nova, i want my car to handle well and scare more powerfull cars. But im unsure as what size tyre or kind of tyre to get. Im hopefull going to got it to some track days but want a tyre that is suitable for road and track use.

For all round ability (wet or dry) I'd use Good year eagle F1s in a 185/60 profile.
Yokohams A539s are good in wet & OK when warm n sticky though I'm not a Yoko fan on Nova's tbh.

Ive had Michelin Pilot Exalto's & they are amazin. best tyre Ive had.
Ive currently got Pirelli P5000 and Ive never really thought about what I think of them (I think thats a good sign) pleased.

I use; mytyres.co.uk they do good prices. Vat & p+p incl.

could go to 185/55 if you wanted to reduce final drive.

yeah i was thinking of going for a much lower profile as the tyres that come standard on the Astra are huge.
My brothers have Good year eagle F1s on their corsa but they didnt seem to last very long, but then again i suppose i can cope with that as long as they offer greater improvement in grip.

remember the grippiest tyres are not necessarily the best. go 185/55/14" mate, I would. I actually used to run 14" steels on my old Nova. with 185/60s. Used to handle lovely imo. Pirellis tend to wear well. Yoko's wear really quick (I think they are awfull)..

f1's are the way IMO, ask dicko he's the latest person i know that has put them on and loved them, Also alot of people have mentioned how the latest version of the f1's last alot longer without losing any of the performance and i have to agree. Its all personal opinion at the end of the day.

you have prolly thought of this but if you intend to do track days you might need to run 15" 's in order to get big enough brakes to cope with track abuse

yeah but 2.0 cav\astra brakes will fit under 14's its just the 3 spoke nova gsi\gte 1's that wont go with out the use of spacers

Ive used a variety over the years. Best ive come across are the Toyo T1's.

Yokos (195/50/15) were "ok" in the dry and completely useless/unsafe in the wet. Lasted all of about 2 minutes lol

BF Goodrich Profiler G's (205/40/17) were wank... but they were on 17" rims so thats probably why..

The Avons (195/45/15) were also ok, wore very well and didnt grip too badly. Good around tyre. (Took them off after about 3/4000 miles and they were barely worn)

Falken (215/35/18).. much the same as Yoko. Had them in 18" so i didnt tend to give it that much stick round the corners.

Pirelli Drago's (195/45/15) didnt last very long for me.. but seemed to grip pretty well.

Err I think thats it? lol

i was running the avons on mine b4 the bf goodrich and yes they lasted a fair while but they were nowhere near as good as the profiler-g's in grip wet or dry. so i guess your problem was the fact they were on 17" rims.

im already running 2lt 16v brake swith green stuff pads, its fully stripped out interior so there isnt much weight to stop it. They do the job very well, but the 14 inch wheels are the smallest i can get on i think.
