A friend of a friend called up to My lock up tonight in his 4x4 sapphire Cosworth, I heard him coming in to the yard as it sounded like a Subaru. It was missing like a pig!!!

On inspection the head gasket has gone :o

He has only had the car a week :!:

I now have a very sick Cossie in the unit which needs a group A head gasket, oil breather system fitted and a general check over.

Looks like My Xmas just got better!!

I remember why I was glad to see the back of mine now, constant attention, allways something going wrong with it.

I LOVE MY NOVA :D :D :D

One of my best mates had to do a complete rebuild on his cosworth and then hit a truck and made the car 18" shorter.

Another friend had a 440BHP Escort but had the engine rebuilt 7 times in 12 months (mostly under warranty) and gave up in the end as well.

now i disagree. i think the rs turbos are amazing cars.especially the mk1's! my boss has had one since it was new and he has never had any problem with the car. and he does thrape it. i think its the same with any car as long as u take care of them they will be ok. as for rs turbos i do know u have to keep them clean and regulary check the engine over. but u should do that with every car.

Your boss's car must be std or at least running std boost.

RS turbo's are even less reliable than Cosworth'swhen modified/chipped. I've had a few over the years and only been reliable when std. The quickest one I ever had was 168bhp at the wheels running 21psi boost, in twelve months the engine put a rod through the block 3 times :o , destroyed two gearboxes and two turbo's.

But, when it was going it was a monster. I had the rev limiter turned up to 7250 and could hit it in 5th

I have to agree with CP mind I was flat out everywhere in My turbo's and Cossies and were all big power. My last Cossie was quicker than a ZX9r Ninja from 80 - 165mph :o
