OUT TO DINNER MATHEMATICS

This is pretty neat.

DON'T CHEAT BY SCROLLING DOWN FIRST

It takes less than a minute.......

Work this out as you read.

Don't cheat and read the bottom until you've
worked through it!

This is fun!

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week
that you would like to
have dinner out. (try for more than once but
less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (Just to be bold)

3. Add 5. (Just because)

4. Multiply it by 50 - I'll wait while you get
the
calculator.................

5. If you have already had your birthday this
year add 1753.... If you
haven't, add 1752..........

6... Now subtract the four digit year that you
were born.

You should have a three digit number .

The first digit of this was your original number

(How many times you want to eat out each week.)

The next two numbers are...

YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it IS!!!!!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2003) IT WILL EVER WORK,
SO SPREAD IT AROUND
WHILE IT LASTS. IMPRESSIVE, ISN'T IT?

reason it didnt work is cause you didnt read it properly :P read what it says in brackets...

Mine worked 2 nights and 22, although I dont really wanna eat out 2 nights a week, I dont care how many nights really so just picked a number, lol

lmao, i sent that to my mums email (i thought she'd like it being a bit of a boffin and all (maths teacher)
this is what she sent me back......

Don't need a great mathematician to work this out:
Formula is (2x + 5) 50 + 1753 where x is gtr than or =2 and less than or =
9
Bracket is always odd (even + odd) and odd X 50 ends in 50. This no. + 1753
therefore ends in 03, same as the year. Subtracting year of birth will
clearly give your age!
Values of x 2 to 9 will give bracket values of 9 to 23 and X50 values of 450
to 1150. So +1753 values will be 2203 to 2903, and subtracting 19something
will give x in range 2 to 9.
NB if you are over 100 THIS WILL NOT WORK! (so what's new?) and if you are
under 3 ditto - but then you couldn't do the maths could you?
2003 is of course not the only year this works for. In 2004 simply adjust to
+1754 etc.
Love Mum XX

wonder if anyone of us didnt use a calculator to do it :?:

Jules
11-12-03, 08:51 AM
I started to not use a calculator, got up to the +1793 (or whatever it was) was then working it out and remember that windows has a calculator (start/allprograms/accessories/calculator) and thought "Sod it I'll use that".
If I'd of had to go and get a calcualtor then I'd of worked it out in my head (Or used the calc on my Nokia!!)
