I need to tell someone about this coz its really getting me down. i thought i had my insurance sorted it was going to be ?600 TPFT on my mams, but here comes the s**t bit, my mam had full no claims when she had her own cars, but then decided she didnt need her own and just used my dads and has been on his insurance for ages. Now this means she has now lost all her no claims, resulting in my insurance going up from ?600 to ?1900  which is just to much to pay. The diposit that my mam paided was ?180 and because she has cancelled the insurance she has lost half of that so really she paided ?90 to the insurance company just to send a cover note. So im really thinking about selling ma baby nova  its my 1st car and i love it to bits sad i know but hey, coz whats the point in having a car sat on the drive doing nothing when someone else could have it, because there is noway the insurance company is getting ?1900 from me. Im really gutted and hope i dont have to sell my car but i think thats the way its going.

Sorry about the long post but i just needed to get it out, all i want to do is drive my car but its not going to happen :x :(

Cheers Craig

Fester i have thought about keeping it in my grandads garage at his house, but i would rather sell it to someone who loves novas and wouldnt put a s**t kit on it, and would look after it.

never never give up trying mate. theres no way you shud give in. i can't believe you got a quote of 1900 quid. cis and liv vic are good, at a later date try fluxey and hic. don't let it get ya down.

trust me m8 the likelyhood (spelling?) of you finding an enthusiast to buy your car are slim and none m8 especially up here a boy racer will get their hands on it and rake it within an inch of its life. Which is why you should keep it, try and get a quote of about a grand(ish) and get yer no claims built up i find it hard to believe that you cant get a cheaper quote than that did they want your eyes as well??

i was only paying ?400 and odd on my dads through CIS

keep your chin up though m8 you'll get it sorted

Go to Migweb and look for a guy called Phil Newman (His details are on the forums somewhere) he works for HIC insurance and he saved me over ?250 on Adrian Flux's "unbeatable" renewal quote.
Best to register with MigWeb then ring him and tell him your a Mig member etc etc.....
If you're still stuck for his number then I can give it to you (Once I find it!!) but I won't be about until this time tomorrow morning.

ill save jules the hassle of hunting around for the number!
its 01279719932, but you have to be 19 or over!
if not like a lot of people have said, try liverpool vic. and CIS.
you cant get rid of that car mate!

Cheers for the help and support lads, i went onto CIS web site and got a quote on my mams with her having no No claims and it was ?1100, but then my dad said just see how much it will be on his. I got a quote from CIS again and it was ?475 on my dads, he's thinking about it at the minute, but the thing thats putting him off is if i have a crash and he might lose his no claims and with his Clio 172 being a group 16 he might not be able to insure it with out any no claims if you get what i mean. Im just going to try and get some more quotes today on my mams and if they are all high, then ill just have to beg ma dad to go on his lol, if he wont let me the car is going :(

His no claims are protected, im pritty sure he can use them for two cars but ill find out, it might have been abit lower than ?475 but he's got points for speeding so that must have put it up abit.

as long as your dads got his no claims covered then if u do have a crash it shouldnr affect them! when i had my fiesta my m8 smashed into me and both cars were a write off and he was on his dads insurance with full no claims. but his dad had got his no claims protected so it didnt affect his dad at all.

WTF?

YOU CANT USE NCB ON 2 POLICYS FFS

unless its the same insuerer and they decide they will mirror your NCB??? if it was that simple i wud own 3 cars and use my 3 yrs ncb on them all and be insuring them for bugger all, some ppl.

Anyway back to the point ?1100 it is, try under your dad with 0 ncb, is he older than your mum (better if they are over 50)

also ring Liverpool victoria for a quote under your own name

will

read the insurance guides as well

good luck

Well surely that's your brothers NCB that's protected and not yours?

All this "going on someone elses insurance as a named driver" is all well and good in the short term but when you do eventually get your own insurance policy you'll have fack all NCB and it'll cost you a fortune then rather than now!!!
They'll have your money eventually - trust me.
