Hi,

The story so far. 1.3SR died, replaced with lovely low miles GTE engine, fitted engine...still trying to wire her in.

Right, thier be only a handfull of wires to connect up. Coming from the engine is a plug with a four wires on it.

Red: I have wired straight to the battery, thats for the ecu.
Green: Wired to the left over rev counter wire.
Black: Wired to an ignition switched live.
Blue: Wired to the water temp?

And of course the fuel pump had to be wired in. Done that.

I go start her and nothing, the engine just turns on the starter motor.

Everything seems to be correct, except the temperature guage on my digidash is reading max heat, why is this?

How can I check the hall sensor for function?

Will it cost a lot to take it to a garage for them to finish this off? Any recommendations, I am in southampton.

Cheers and sorry for the huuge post.

Steve

Fuel pump - I hope you wired it exactly as the manual shows it, this is really important for safty if nothing else.

Tempguage - if it's ready all the way over then the wire is touching ground (0 volts) or the sensor is faulty, costs about ?12 to buy a new one.

do u hear the fuel pump fire up for a few seconds when u turn the ignition on??

and does the pump run while cranking?

if so pop the plugs out and check em - if its not sparking they might be soaked in petrol which wont help when u do fix the problem

check the spark by holding a lead with a plug stuck in the end agains the block and watch for sparks

if your getting sparks try cranking it for about 30 secs with your foot flat to the floor - if it is flooded that will clear it out
