ah take it out completely, think of all that extra weight your carrying round  i took mine out, hmmmmm an it was rather cold last night. :(
i cant take it out! its freezin! gettin frostbite in my hands!any sensible advice???
Only thing I can think of is the cable from the switch to the matrix isn't working properly.
Take the glovebox out and when you move the switch it should move the lever going into the matrix.
Don't even look at the Haynes manual when doing this.. it doesn't make sense at all, trust me! lol

you have got coolant in engine havent you?
if u have got coolant in the then it could b an air block or the the matrix is cloged up with loads of crap
OR it could be a seized motor (common problem on Nova's).
if so, stick your hand in and turn the fan (MAKE SURE THE IGNITION IS OFF). while you are turning the fan spray some WD40 on the bearing. make sure its a good aim with the WD40 (lads are prob better at doing this, lol) coz if you get it on the electrics on the other side of the bearing u'll be seeing smoke.
keep turning the fan with your hand, till it can move quite freely, then get your hand out and turn the heaters on. if the fan spins get a little bit of engine oil on the bearing to keep it lubed up
