NO I think someone (mention no names mimic) was trying to get people to use his (may I add slow/unreliable) home-pc server.

Just to let you know.

If the server ever changes, I will post a message in this here forum so nobody gets lost!

The problem last night was the servers where seperated for maintainence, thats why we ended up with different rooms.
ZIRC has sub servers, the one down last night was avalon.nc.zirc.com so you had to be on dacities.ny.zirc.com
Sorry if thats confusing, it my mean something to someone :)

OK, to be a bit more specific, and so people know how this all works....

I told everyone to connect to
irc.zirc.org a while ago, when you do this, you are randomly connected to any one of the following servers;

avalon.nc.us.zirc.org

dacities.ny.us.zirc.org

AnnArbor.MI.US.Zirc.Org

DragonsEdge.bc.ca.Zirc.Org

All these servers are linked together.

This means that people who are in the #novaload room could be connected via different servers, you can see what server someone is connect to by doing a whois on them (type:
/whois someonesNickname eg.
/whois john)

Sometimes a thing called a
netsplit might happen, this is when one of the servers loses connection to the others, so anyone who is on that server will disapear from the room, sometimes you can end up with a group of people in one room and the rest in another.

We could all connect straight to a certain server, rather than
irc.zirc.org but if that server was down we wouldent be able to connect at all!

Hope this helps.
Kev
