My GTE does not seem to have a plug to connect it to Tech1
is it possible that these engine's do not have one or am i missing
it somewhere or maybe they connect it to somewhere else?
Thanks
Edward

ive seen tech 1 but weve only got the software and plugs for the american cars, the only diagnostic plug is next to the wiper motor attached to the bulkhead.. why use tech 1 anyway u can read any faults with a paper clip trick...

all the tech1 does is the paperclip trick
cept it reads the codes onto a computer and tallys em up with a database
if u cant find the tech1 plug u cant do paperclip trick :)
Hi,
Right, the Tech1 is a full diagnostic tool. Only part of it's job is to read the codes. It can be used to test all the sensors and switches on your ignition system, tell you the temp of the water etc.
Now, if you don't have the diagnostic socket, you won't have an octane plug either. This will be because your GTE has a Bosch ECU not a Siemens one. On these looms I remember a Vauxhall technician telling me they conected a box to the air-flow meter socket instead. I don' know what it was called though, best go ask your local dealer.
