right. next year i am going to get my first bank loan. :roll: this loan is going to be spent on the car. :D 's engine. :o help from everyone plz do i;
1) throttle bodies & dta on my existing 1.6 8v engine (which has B+ head btw) velos quoted me ?1700 fitted. with arp bolts on crank.
2) buy 1.6 16v XE and do above (however this can be spread over time, engine cud be on stand in garage done over many months so money will be less of a strain.) whereas with opt.1) bits need to be bought then lot done within a week or so because i need the car.
3) buy 1.6 16v XE and turbo it?? :? as with opt.2) could be done over 2004 period.
or something else?? you decide. well help. wonder if mr.oxford will reply, lol.
Or option 4:
4) Sell the car to me at a knock down price!!
I'd go for option 2, get the 1.6 16v lump on a stand in your garage, take your time with it, get it cleaned and looking nice, add the TB's then drop it in one weekend, this way you can still build a nice engine and use the GSi in the meantime.

1.6 16v on throttle boddies sounds the best idea to me.

Definately option 2 peester. No point rushing it and not being happy in long run.
If i was to do mine over again i would go with option 2 spec.
Good luck mate.

option 1 aint worth getting yourself into debt over.

or you could go all out and get your 16XE, throttle bodies and a turbo to finish the lot off? seen it done on a 1.4 16v tigra. if i remember rightly it had dbilas TB's, garrett T25 turbo and nitrous. would have been stupidly fast for what it was.
you know you want to. imagine a 1600 16v with those mods :D
over time obviously though
Option 2! Do it once, do it right! take your time! :)

?2k loan?? why not just save for a few months
In my opinion.... DONT GET THE LOAN!!
Save for it or dont bother... trust me once the borrowing starts its all downhill!!
ignore what theyt say about loans, its not easy to save up ?2k in few months. GET THE LOAN, u could die 2morow and would never have the chance to do it. I say go for it.
I once had a loan when i was younger and would never bother again, if its worth doing then its worth saving for, depends on whether you wanna keep drinking your money away etc rather than saving it (it can be done ! ). As for ignoring advice, the experience of those that are older or been there and done that should never be ignored, just taken into account when making your decision. The only debt i have is my mortgage and will never ever get a loan or finance or nothing

I have a loan. Took one out for ?5000.
There was no way I could have saved that hence why I took it out.
I can afford to pay it off happily, but I still say dont get a loan if u can afford to save the money over the period of doing the engine.
It will be alot better.
Trust the ones in the know.
