im thinking of banging a 800 watt amp in me nova in order to power two 400watt subs. now will the battery be powerful enough to power an 800 watt amp or will a bigger battery or capacitor etc be needed?

(by the way the amp will be 800watts peak)

thanx

In my understanding (correct if im totally wrong) the battery doesnt actually power anything. The battery gives your starter motor power to start the engine, and then after that the engine runs, and the alternator provides power to the battery. So technically the battery is just a conductor for the alternator. (if sound dumb, feel free to point and laugh! )

To cut a long story short, yeh it should be fine. My mate had a 1000W RMS amp, and a 600W max runnin off a standard battery, and it was fine.

hope that helped

Yeah I have a mate that runs a similar set up..... 850w amp and two subs. His is standard battery and it seems fine.......As long as the engines running. As it drains the battery fast when its not
