Gear linkage

C20XE & F20 gearbox
I've been having a few problems with my gear linkage for some time now.
Driving the car hard often doesnt really help the problem but is there a gear linkage that people normally use on there valvers?

Any normal gear linkage from a different car not a short throw one or quick shift one.

I heard a gear linkage from an Astra is ideal, dont know why or what Astra exactly, can anyone shed any light on this.
