I've had a horrible whirring/soft knocking noise in neutral, thought it was probably just the thrust bearing on the clutch.
After putting in a new clutch, still have the same problem, so think that it must be worn bearings inside the box on the input shaft.
Does anyone have any idea of the sensible price of a second hand box, or is it better to get it reconditioned? The car has done 150k, so a recon may just be a black hole!
