got hold of a t3 flange, i need to know or get hold of some pics to see which of the stock nova manifolds would be suitable to weld this flange to with the most minmal of work for my GTE turbo conversion, any ideas or pics guys

Well this is a very open ended question. My car was converted when I bought it, and I think the adapter was a very half arsed thing, don't get me wrong it was a good idea at the time, but it kept breaking, and had to be re-welded every 2,000 miles or so. It looked like this when we finally binned it (it's connected to a standard GTE manifold):

Your much better off working from scratch, that way your not compromised, and can have exactly what you want. My mate has now built this as a replacement, I'm sure you'll agree it looks a million times better:

Hope that helps you out a bit, anymore questions just feel free to ask!

well looking at the abortion cris posted i would say its a gte/sr 4-2 manifold.

if you get a 1.2 carb nova manifold then you should be able to weld/bolt the flange straight to the manifold without much bother as it goes 4-1.

i have one at home i could photo.

And incase you were wondering Courtenay use their own cast manifolds for their conversions, but they also only use a T2 turbo, which gives them alot more space to work withas the turbo is a fair bit smaller.

Yeah thats the one i've got......
Not sure if a T3 will fit straight on it though.

A point to note: it is quite tight in there with a T3 :-) But the stainless manifold is much better.

Will - if you want a manifold that's not a problem, I'll let you speak with Chris about it!

[I know a man who makes collectors now]

ive got a GTE manifold, it'l be a lot of work to get things right with it, dont wanna end up with bodge like chris's one above (no-offence mate), its got to be reliable, like the whole conversion really. thought about using an RS trubo Manifold and cuuting off the ports to the head and somehow mount a nova item to it??, mucho work i think

by the way chris where did you get that oil take-off plate, only people i can find are Mocal but they dont seem to list a take-off for the GTE

the courtentay is 260 smackers though i aint prepared to pay that, i want a T3 anyway, looks like its going to be a custom job then!!

Don't worry - no offence taken - I'd be ashamed if i'd made that piece of shit in the first pictures [or had it made]

The next manfold will be tig welded with a custom collector made in house [demon tweeks's is a bit lame]

Laser cut T-3 flanges, hopefully all in stainless.

Let me know if you are interested.

I don't own the car anymore, I'm just helping the new owner sort the problems. I think the oil take off plate came from Demon Tweeks, but yes it is a Mocal part. The manifold in the last pic of my post cost about ?100 to make, minus labour, so it's not too bad to be honest.

cheers lads, got hold of a laser cut flange from a bloke advertising them on ebay, i coul try converting a 4-1 manifold for the job, not bothered about it being stainless or anything

I'm slowly building up a 1.3 turbs (with an XR2 Turbo technics kit). I'm considering welding a flange on to a 1.2 manifold for the T25 (?), and I'll then smooth it all off with a grinder. Very cheap, and will only take a hour or so.....hopefully

no the outside which is the problem, airflow inside needs to be unhampered, how can you grind inside to port it all out nicely??

die grinder and burr

guys, without trying to sound too much of a t**t, what is this type of flange? lol

cheers!

its a flange that is welded onto a manifold for bolting on a turbo charger, tis squrae with four bolt holes and an oppening to allow the exhaust gas to spin up the turbo, hope that helps
