i want to smooth my boot and therefore need to fit a boot popper but how do i do it? would i be better off getting a clifford one added to my alarm instead of a diy job?

you use a solinoid kit.

Dont feed it from the rear wiper= its a switched feed

take it from the boot light instead- thats a perm feed.

easy to get it wired into a clifford- its only three wires.

thanks, i got the wiring diagram on how to wire it into my clifford.

Id be careful....

i had a diagram.....three wires and one relay- put the wrong wire on the relay terminals and it will blow the alarm brain.....i only know this as it happened to me when i wired it in about 3 yrs ago....new alarm brains arent cheap....

Plus you will have to delve into loads of sticky loom tape to find the correct output wire coming from your alarm brain (grey with purple trace as it happens), and then solder an extension onto it...etc...
In addition to this, the alarm has to be programmed to output the correct pulse to the solenoid (grounded, positive or negative) and also latched (solenoid wont return) or momentary (2 seconds) or timed (can be adjusted from 2 seconds to 60 seconds- get this wrong and you are also f*cked

Mount the solenoid and feeds and relay, then leave a clifford installer to do it- will take them less than an hour and will be something liek ?20 to do

easier in the long run

plus if you aint careful and nudge the wiper stalker the boot pops at embarrasing moments - ask Chris T

im always knocking the switches wen i drive so i dont really want my boot opening on the motorway!!! think i will leave it to the experts to fit!

mines on the stalk and ive had no probs with nockin it, u cant use vauxhall door solinoids as they dont bounce back they stay in the pulled position. take a boot solinoid out of any car in the scrappers.. mines out of a calibre..
