124BHP without the NOS is quite poor really, goes to show the NOS kit is up to spec though.

124 is about right for a standard XE unless you go to glory boy rollers.

The jets were 200/80 and the bottle pressure was 850 psi on a 2.5 second build from 30 to 90%

People quoting things like "50bhp jets" are speaking VERY loosely, a "50bhp jet" could give as much as 120bhp in some instances.

If it was 228bhp @ the wheels that works out at 273.6bhp @ the flywheel (Nos)

and 124bhp @ the wheels works out at 148.8 @ the flywheel without.

Good going though for a standard XE.

Just had another look and yes at the wheels isnt a bad result at all.

124 at wheels is about what id expect really for that engine.

The rollers i went to are reputed to be pretty accurate and the engine is in good nick so 124 is almost exactly what i would have expected.

I nearly shat myself when i saw the 228 @ wheels on the gas though after i had tweaked it about a bit, i was hoping for over 200@wheels but to get that much was a real result, cant wait for the 1/4 mile season now to see what it can do, in the 13s i certainly hope.

Cool - soundslike you have done well. Does make all the other std tuning methods look a bit longwinded plus with that kind of power up at Pod you have a good chance to chasten your detractors off MIG

What has it cost ?/hp gain to do then if you dont mind divulging what you spent?

I bought the basic kit second hand years ago for another vehicle so that only cost 350, and controller is 480 normally but i bought it in a group buy for 380, so total cost was about 800 by the time i bought a few other bits like spark plugs and jets.

So 800/122 = under 7 quid per horsepower

Im a little worried now though with such an enormous amount of power (its phase 2 let power after all now!) about the combustion chamber pressures involved on the piston ringlands as im using let XE pistons not the much stronger earlier mahle type.

I think that i will need to swap to mahle pistons before my next round of changes to the engine really, im considering a lower CR as well (via a 1.98 cometic mls headgasket) but im not sure about that yet as it will probably lose me about 5-10% power "off gas"

Mig has a group of tefal heads who only like you if you do EXACTLY what they all do, they dont like getting thrashed in the power stakes by someone who is "cheating" so i dont take any notice of them mate.
Most people on there so far that i have spoke to have had nothing but praise for the results.

PS

certainly cant wait to get it up the pod, it wont be quite as amazing as people might think because the vehicle has been built with strength in mind not weight, its over 1000kgs so its more like cavalier weight than nova weight.

Should still manage a 13 though fingers crossed.
