the new corsa gsi turbo. 175 brake (should have been the 200bhp lump) 1.6 16v turbo. 210 nm torque. does it go well?
well vauxhall claim 7.9 seconds 0-60. which is 8 seconds really. 8 seconds? so its only 1 second quicker than my 100 brake nova gsi.
sounds pants. wotta shame. looks so good. watch ford now release a 200 brake festa that'll pound it. ive heard that fiat are lining up a 2.2 litre punto. vauxhall; getting it a bit wrong again.

looks 'almost standard'.

Those figures don't make much sense to me. surely a 175 bhp small hatch should hit sixty quicker than 7.9 seconds. the former corsa gsi only had around the 110bhp region and wasnt far off that time. I agree that vauxhall should opt for a 200 brake version of the engine otherwise the corsa gsi will flop

'Book' speeds are often very innacurate for many reason, one of which is to stop the anti_fun_we'll_moan_if_your_car_can_go_over_20mph_ tree_huggers from kicking up a stink like they did with other fast cars (Lotus Carlton anyone?)
Like the jap cars that are 'limited' to something like no more than 245bhp by the book but in reality are well over the 300bhp mark.

Edit - just looked at the page you linked to and the news is from May 2002!!!
I expect things might of changed since then!!

Sounds like a typical "book" figure to me too.
It should rip that time to bits in reality, unless the power delivery is REALLY cr*p!!

Fiat aren't releasing a 2.2 litre punto.

Its a 1.9 HGT. Onr grade uo from the mk2 1.8 HGT, its summit like 125bhp...

i know it was old; just used that as a link to a pic. lotus carlton's uproar made it the lotus carlton. get the new corsa gsi to cause an uproar and that'll make it a car to remember. otherwise as hevy-nova sez; it'll just fall into that catagory of warm hatch also rans that have been made since the first; the original: nova gte. (nova gsi no better, corsa gsi was just a round nova gsi, and current 1.8 sri just doesn't seem to work.)
i do know that vauxhall did a bad job of estimating astra turbo figures for power and performance though. and they did a naff job of promoting the vx220 turbo. thats scandeluosly (spelling) quick jules. no-one knows it exists.
