If you're buying road tax for your 1.2,
it'll cost you ?60.50 for 6 months.

Any car with an engine less that 1300cc (I think) will pay
less road tax, I've heard it'll be changing to 1400cc in April 2004 (less tax for Sri boys) !

it used to be 25 yrs old, but the government cut this off at a certain point as ste says sumthing like 1973 so any cars older are ok but not newer ones, i heard also if a pre 73 car changes oweners now it doesnt count anyway, not sure on that tho.

The main reason for the change is it is easily possible for modern cars to last 25 yrs, i mean can you imagine mk3 astra and vectras etc with free tax ;) hehe

cheaper tax bracket for older cars is under 1500cc and its more for over 1501cc, newer cars are done by emissions but that shudnt be of conern to many on here.

positive

?60.50p for 6 months under 1500cc

?110 for 12 months under 1500cc

?90 (approx) over 1501cc for 6 months

?160 (spprox) over 1501cc for 12 months

emissions for new cars and the rates, duno dont care, dont own a car that new and prob wont ever, pmsl

Good old tories made it all cars over 25yrs (So it was rolling on yr after yr, we should be up to 1978 now) then the first thing Good ol' Labour party done was to stop it

So anything up to '72 is tax exempt....
