maybe you should just go and spray your ped??
Effort and you wont get a very good finish me thinks, if your serious halfords sell the compressors and stuff needed :D

you can do it with cans and get a decent finish dont get me wrong its never going to be the finish of a spray gun but it can be classed as ok/fairly good but it will take loads of luck. also if you do this do not get paint cans from a motor factors, go to your local paint suppliers and they will make you some up, 3 reasons for this 1 they are bigger so last longr/cost less overall, 2 they have a better spay nozzle than standard cans meaning you can get a better finish and 3rd all the cans will be the exact color you want with no slight mismatches

i thought the effect would go all orange peel effect and not look 2 good
i wud be tempted 2 hire a spray gun and find some where with a garage and compressor and do it that way
when i do mine am usin me dads work garage

usually only goes bobbly if the surface aint smooth or the primers not even.
anyone rekon it would be ok to spray my nova matt black with cans just for winter as its gonna be dark all the time anyway so it wouldnt matter about the finish, plus matt black would be stealth 8) my car aint going to any shows too soon either!!!!!
i would do it with my mates compressor but he hasnt sorted out his workshop yet, i was gonna do a proper respray after christmas, but would cans be ok just so i can drive it over winter coz im cheesed off with this cycling in the rain at 2 in the mornin business.
my nova's already been sanded down and primered. and i can leave it covered up when its in my drive so the paint shouldnt get weathered as quickly
getting the cans from a proper paint shop would be a good start aswell
will i get away with it???

If youve gone to the hassle of riming it and prepping it dont be daft and paint it matt black, buy a cheap runner for the cost of the spraypaint and just save your effort on yur good car.
yer fair play, im just gonna hassle my mate to do it with his compressor. its not worth me buying another shit heap

i have seen some right hand sprayed fuck ups
I did my nova with cans - I started off with the wing and got carried away!
:D
It can be done but like everyone says you need to know what youre doing - I actually got complemented by a local body shop on the finish!
however you need to use lacqer and thats a pig to apply otherwise in about a month the stone ships on the front of th car will make it look v v v v v tatty!
TBH the amount you will spend on the prep and the paint youre not saving that much! I actually exhausted Stafford and Stoke out of Carmine red when i did mine! Used about 30 cans I think - not including primer - blew better part of ?500!
Saved ?300 on the price quited by local body shop but I had to get it done again a couple of yrs later - luckily I had already planned a rebuild then. Did that one myself too (using 2pak and a spray gun in a double garage). Came out v good - didnt save too much but the experience I gained using hvlp spary guns/compressors and the whole project was a real kick!

theres a guy opposite my girfriends house who started off with a white capri. every day i'd see him he'd have his spray cans out and now the car is black. looks like a bloody good finish too considering he did it on the road in front of his house lol

Hope you werent parked down wind! Mind you you you could park down wind then when the poverspray damages you paintwork, claim off his insurance and get a full respray.
Anyone got a white car need a touch up?

I must admit most of my car has been sprayed with cans.
and it does look to bad but it's patchy and to someone with a good eye it would look crap, but if your going to the MK meet you'll be able to see it there and decide for ya self.
BUT I'm respraying it properly over christmas so there! :P
