i might have the chance to get a good condition sri engine shortly to transplant into my 1.3sr.

however i'm not sure at all about fuel injection, will it be an easy transplant?

i would buy it if it would be easy to convert it to a carb. i have a webber dmtl.(is this possible or a good idea)

all advice welcome

cheers.

you need full loom if u keeping injection

or 40s if going carb...

otherwise don't bother with it

i'll be buying the whole car for ?70 if a get it.

would put 40's on it if i could get a cheap set.

is it impossible to put the webber dmtl carb on it even just for a short while?

because i'm not sure if the conversion to injection will be very hard or not.

if i knew what to do then i'd proabably be able to handle it fine.

also injection might bring new problems etc like to keep things simple :)

basically going to injection involves,

fitting injection fuel pump
fitting injection fuel lines
fitting injection wiring and ecu

this conversion is quite simple if you have the 2 cars its a case of take part of sri put it in same place in your sr till you're finished easily done in a day

Yeah it is easy, take the plunge and go for the injection SRi motor. It'll start sweeet on a cold morning and you can have a power boost valve & a cone filter then. How exciting is that?

i basically have the choice of the sri (apparantly an ex mechanics motor)(?70)

or

a 1.4sr bought from an english breaking company. (?110)

i plan to run twin 40's hopefully by the easter/summer of next year

what one would you all go for?

if your going to twin 40's then id fit the sr engine, there's no point putting all the injection stuff in if your gona scrap it all for carb's anyway. if you put the 1.4sr engine in put a 1.2 carb head on and you'll not be to far away from sri power anyway

sri has a much much bettery cylinder head and valve train so go for the sri and keep the carb tank and bits spare :)
