Everyone knows my situation...I rang up 4 a quote on a standard 1.2 mk1 nova worth ?300...with 1 years no claims and i got quoted ?1000 TPFT...ouch.
I have learnt the harshest lesson possible when it comes to fucking about with insurance...but at these prices I am desperate.
When insurance companies ask if you have any convictions or convictions pending, if you say no do they check? Is there a central database or summit that they check? I have a fews mates with RS turbo's etc who say they have 9 points on their licences and they don't tell their insurance companies???
Can they check?

hahahaha wait til they try and claim.
insurance companies will happily take your money, but make a claim and then they check! they just check with the dvla, and as for claims there is a central claims database so thye'll find those too!

Yeah but why would you insure a ?300 car fully comp?! therefore you will not need to claim! Lots of people do this and get away with it B'cos they know they won't claim! They just want cover to drive! I say bullshit them m8, I'm doing that right now! I have a case pending for dangerous driving!

I agree with cambridge on this one...but hearn69r...you might have to claim from your insurance..eg. You hit a pedestrian, u get your car nicked, U bump a brand new Merc...so i don't think that's a good enough reason to do it

You are better being honest but I guess it's the risk I take. I don't think they would investigate if you had to claim for someone else. And I haven't been sent the court case dates so as far as I'm concerned I have no convictions pending! Fair enough if you know when your date is..... but if not then I wouldn't say anything to the Insurance Co.

thats it lets have loads of answers that are wrong lol! :D
right points are convictions, it is a conviction for speeding it does matter.
you will be asked about prosecutions pending so you do need to disclose. even if you are not asked the paperwork will say that you must disclose all material facts that may be relevant or that may influence our decision to insure you....or words to that effect.
so they got you there cos you did not disclose that.
as for third party claims they may not investigate but a lot of companies will automatically do a Miaftr (what hpi check on) search and also a dvla search as part of the claims process no matter what claim.
cheers ian.
