i am doing a 2.0l 8v conversion and was wondering the easiest way to put the engine in. and weld aii the mounts on. do people put the engine and box in together (drop the car over) or fit the g box then bolt the engine to that. any help from any one who has had any experience or any ideas would be greately appreciated.

As for putting the engine in, depends on what help/tools u have.

We lifted the car over the engine and then just bolted it in to the mounts then jacked it up but if you have a hoist its just as easy to lowwer it in.

Also hoists can be hired if you dont want to buy one.

yes but when did u change all the mounts around so the engine sits square ie the drivers side mount?

If you buy the engine mount kit from carquip, just bolt this onto the engine, lift the car up high, push engine under the car, lower the car back down onto the mounts, lift the car up supporting the back of the engine. Do the back mount up.

If you have any problems give me a shout, where about's in stoke are you?

nova198 - Not too far away from me, me ex also lives in Audley..... Did you buy the engine from Ace Vauxhall by any chance and pick it up in a land rover???

Not sure off measurments on a 8v, ste might know, If your not buying the mounts, it involves cutting the drivers side mount off and lowering it.. and modifing the rear mount.

Ste - Whats the drop for a 16v? i thought the drop on a 2.0l 8v was not quite as much as 16v, cause with the carquip mount you use top and middle hole for 16v and bottom and middle for a 8v conversion.

we used 1.5" on lancys and the 2.0 16v sits dead level

the carquip upper and lower are too exagerated
