would it be better to buy a complete car for the transplant ie a cheap gte 16V or cav? or is it just as easy to get the individual bits and bobs together?

whats the best donor car aswell cav/astra.

astras seem to be more available at a cheaper price ie

Vauxhall Astra 2.0
GTE, 1991 H reg, white, no tax or MOT, runs well, avarage condition, suitable for boy racer, drive away
price: ?395.00 or near offer

it just seems it'll work out cheaper this way although you do have a bit more work stripping the car down for what you need

thats exactly what i mean. for around ?400 you could buy an mot failure GTE with everything you need (plus extras like brakes, servo etc)

Only problem with that is you are buying rotten rustbuckets wich the owners have let slip and maintance drop. So what condition is the engine going to bein. If your planning a rebuild fine.
