Right for the time being i am going to fit some twin 40 webbers to my GTE.

I know that i need the choke size to be 32mm and i also know about all the linkage and altenator bracket.

What i need to know is hw to go about setting up the ignition side of things as obviously the standard ECU etc will be scrapped.

What Coil and distributor is the best choice and will any others do?

1.4sr coil and dizzy is prolly about the best to use

or just any 1.4 not mpi/spi

i removed one from a 1.4 L, as its the same engine as the sr lol

Whilst were on about dizzys, im going to be using the dizzy from a 1.3sr. I'm gussing it will do the same job as the 1.4 one?

I mean it just hast to be adjustable right?

1.4sr dizzy and coil setup is more powerful than the older 1.2/1.3 setup

Oh I meant to post this in my first post, it's a simple drawing I knocked up to show my mate how I'd wired my 1.4 dizzy & coil.

lol if u take the loom off the 1.4 sr you'll see its all self contained bar one plug that goes to the car loom

this plug has switched 12v, ground and tacho feed on it

coil should be round with a 6 pin module underneath

2 pins on dizzy and 2 pins on coil itself iirc

Jeeezzzz Ben the pic isn't exactly brimming in detail and hard to understand!!
Once you've got the car in bits and the wires infront of you it'll all make sense (At least I bloody hope so cos everyone else that's used it has worked it out alright so far!!!!!!!!!!)
:o

I wonder where you will get the 1.4 coil from Ben?!

My old man was wondering why the Astra wouldnt start in the garage

m.d. - use a 1carbed 1.6 mk2 cav dizzy and ign module. Should fit fine.

I think the coil missing of that astra is the least of the problems!
