Hi well i am 18 and wish to insure my 89 1.4SR its got tigra alloys a face off and a pair of 6x9's but not much else. I have no no claims or anything due to only just passing test i was wondering how much you think its gonna cost me. Has anyone else had to insure a 1.4SR at 18 and did anyone get a cheap quote or know a good company to go with cheers.

dont declare alloys or anything

Or traslated from pikey northern person to english that means

"dont bother insuring it cause if you dont decalre you not insured"

FFS some ppl

As for helping you, the car is a group 7 insurance bracket, wont be cheap but at 18 is well affordable, there are links on the site to a load of isnruance companys or if you go to the "other" guide section you will see 2 insurance guides one by Ian Storey who works in insurance and the other by myself etc.

Try the following companys (numbers are on my guide)

Liverpool Vic
CIS
Norwich union
Tesco

They wont mind abt you alloys i wudnt think, if its not lowered most companys will quote you TBH but if you plan to lower it then look for a company that allow this so to speak.

Hope it helps

Will

p.s. dont bother ringing adrain flux its over 19s

CIS is the cheapest as far as i know! the best thing to do is insure it in your mums name and then have yourself as a named driver. i did that on my 1.3sr which cost me ?750 a year, my fiesta 1.4 ghia cost me ?1000 and my nova 1.2 costs me ?700! and im only 17! but only thing is your not on your own insurance and dont get no claims for yourself!

CIS rnt cheap unless u do the going under a parent thing, and even then its expensive in your case

i was paying ?350 @ 17 on a 1.2 nova under my dad, he didnt use any NCB either as they were on his own car :D

Yup, risk you take, you are legally insured, but when and if you crasha nd try to claim who knows, needless to say this was 3 years ago. Insurance for 17 yr olds is just stupid these days i dont blame them for trying a cheaper option even tho it might not be such a good idea int he event of a claim.

Will
13-11-03, 01:28 PM
normal rate is 35% but some companys do offer more yes

try LV they give u sumthing like 50% as an introductory discount (nothing to do with pass plus) in order to gain customers

will look it out and scan it in ... phoned ensleigh (spelling) .. who are part of norwich union, who gave me student discount ... and they will still like ?400 more than NU, TPFT & garaged, group 8 ... got quoted ?1500+ .. and ended up with like 60% off for various bits and bobs
