View Full Version : In Car Dvd
Iam wanting to fit a stand alone tv screen where my air inductes and hazard swith is and a cd player which is dvd compatiable. can this be done using the cd player to play the dvds and by using a cable etc to the screen in the dash.
Does anybody know the best stuff to use i.e cd player and screen and how do you go on about doing it? Where do you move the hazard switch etc too?
Would really appreciate some advice thank you!

THATS A REALLY HARD 1 TO ANSWER!!!! ITS MORE COMPLICATED THEN UD THINK TO INSTALL! SO UR BEST BET IS TO GET A PRO SHOP TO DO IT. BUT IF U THINK UR CAPABLE THEN HERE GOES:
U SAID "cd player which is dvd compatiable." THIS MEANS ULL GET A LITTLE "BRAIN BOX WITH IT," ULL ALSO PROBERLY NEED A LINE DRIVER ASWEL. THIS CONNECTS TO THE SCREEN THEN POW U HAV DVDS. BUT IF ITS ALL BUILT IN THEN IT SHOULD WORK FINE, JUST ABIT OF CABLE LIKE U SAID. BUT I THORT MOST IF NOT ALL DVD COMPATABLE CD PLAYERS HAD BUILT IN SCREENS. WHAT WOULD BE MORE IMPRESSIVE THO WOULD BE TO GET A DVD CD PLAYER WITH FLIP SCREEN AND PUT THAT IN PLACE OF UR AIR VENTS.
IF NOT THEN ITS EASY TO PUT IN A SCREEN AND KEEP THE HAZARD SWITCH...USE A SMALLISH SCREEN 5.6" AND U WONT NEED TO MOVE MR SWITCH, JUST CUT AWAY THE AIR VENTS AND PLACE THE SCREEN TO THE LEFT ABIT, ABOUT 1CM. HEY PRESTO SCREENS.
THE REASON ITS HARD TO ANSWER IS BECAUSE I DONT KNOW WHAT STANDARD UR AT AND THERFORE DONT WANT TO TEL U WHAT TO DO, INCASE MY ADVICE SEEMS UNCLEAR AND IT ALL GOES WRONG.
BUT IF UR CAPABLE THEN GO FOR IT. IF NOT GO TO SQ PLUS IN MANCHESTER OR GIV THEM A CALL AND ASK THEM FOR HELP.
HERES A PIC OF A CD PLAYER WHERE THE OLD HAZARDS AND AIR VENTS WERE AND WHERE I MEAN TO PUT THE DVD CD HEADUNIT.
ITS FROM ANOTHER POST A WHILE AGO.

I'm planning to do just that mate. If you buy a DVD player, it will come with all the cables you need. As for the switch, I'm mounting a Mk1 hazard switch somewhere else on the dash.
Good luck. Send me pics of what you manage
Cheers lads! Aye its not as easy as it looks and with a bit of time and effort should manage to come up with a soulution.
Thanks for all the advice KEEPITUNIQUE much appreciated mate.
Get a 5.6" screen, put it where i have, then tilt ur seat back a tiny bit AND IT'S PERFECT VEIWING!
Put the DVD player under glove box like i have,
Both TV and DVD player r removeable, the TV slots out from the top so when it slides in it doesn't fall out forwards, i then blocked off the vent with a bit of cardboard paint black.

Yer that look so sweet. Good Job. I wana do mine like that but with a 7.2" screen. So i will have to move the hazzard switch.
will look good with a 7" one, good luck with moving the hazzard switch.
Well I might use a Mk1 hazard switch. Would that work? Does it just plug in?
not sure about that one mate.
how did u wire up that volt gauge plz mate as i really want 1 there in my car
Screen looks good there, pity about the "Max Power" sticker,
replace it with a "Novaload" one if you must have one.
if you read it carefully it says MAX POOER! lol

LIKE THE MAX POOER STICKER
WHERED U GET IT FROM?
I H8 THE COMERSHALISATION OF CAR MODDING
IT HAPPENS TO A SPORT OR HOBBY THEN EVERY TOM DICK AND HARRY THINKS THERE THE ORIGINAL BOY RACER AND IT RUINS THE IDEA OF MODDIN CARS.
KEEP IT UNDERGROUND!!!!!
the volt meter is very easy to fit, this is the way i have done it,
1) Fitted a switch with a Live from the battery or any Permanate Live feed.
2) Connected the Voltmeter, DVD and TV live wires to one connector of the switch.
3) Ran the other end of the switch to a Earth wire that was being used for the clock.
So when i flick the switch my DVD, TV and Voltmeter comes on, TV and DVD only come on with the remote so i could just have the voltmeter on if i wanted.
But i have done it this way so when im watching a film i can see if my battery is going flat so i dont kill it, quite a good way to do it i think.
I took the clock outa it's square housing and cut curves out of the sides so the voltmeter just slides in and stays there.
plus if i see police i can just flick switch n all tv dvd player goes of instantly. :d
