I have an interview on Wednesday at 11am...

Only problem is I am working on Wednesday and it's not enough notice to book the day off so i need a good reason (other than "i have an interview") to tell the boss as to why i need to pop out of the office for a couple of hours on Wednesday morning.

Family member / partner is going to the doctors and they'd like you to be there with them (Be as vague as possible).

get someone to phone you in the morning and make out like your flat has been broken into, then you can pop out to sort out fixing the window/locks/door so that your flat is secure again. That gives you an almost unlimited time out of the office as you have to wait for the locksmith/window guy etc.

That is a VERY good idea mate - i was thinking something along those lines myself but the phone call just makes it even better :D I might go with that one :D :D

frank and beans! FRANK AND BEANS!!! lol

Just go in late and say ''sorry, i'm late. ended up masturbating in the shower, which delayed me''.

Would be 'funny' if the person that was supposed to phone you didnt for some reason. Panic!?

You dont have to have been broken into - just say the call is from a neighbour saying the burglar alarm is going off and has been for about 20 minutes.

If the call doesnt arrive when it should you quickly switch to plan b, you email someone in the building and ask them to phone you :D

sssssSneaky!

or you could just do the age old favorite and phone in sick?

When I was in College, one of my mates burst into my business studies lesson and said my house alarm was going off and that I needed to go back and sort it out. I was sat there thinking..hmmmmm.... this isn't going to work you fool!!! my house was literally about 50 foot from the classroom and there were no alarms going off!!! still, the teacher was pretty cool and he knew I was just going to the pub anyway and he came down for a pint about half an hour after the lesson!!! LMAO!!!

i dont wanna phone in sick because firstly, they know no matter how ill i am i always come to work and then let them send me home - 5 days off in over 3 years due to severe stomach infections. Secondly - i dont want to tarnish my record with regards to sickness just before i am going to leave - would like to keep to the 5 days and not add any more.

I am thinking about saying a neighbour has called saying they can smell gas and i am the only flat in the block of 4 that they have not checked yet.
:D

good thinking batman. cos it would take u time to get home, obviously you would have to call a technician out immediately with it being a possible gas leak................novaload is just full of sneaky b*stards really isnt it?!

it's just that none of us really want to be in work, so we all have our own little plans to get out of it!!! lmao!  8)

lmfao! yep u've gotta hate work. but only the workaholic that is andy would try and sneak time off work so that he could go for a job interview lol

wisewood

think i might add this to my list of useful topics - someone is bound to ask again for something like this. :D

Some very good suggestions have come from this. Something for all occasions - even the suggestion marty made might be good for some people.

Althoguh since i am supposed to start at 9:30 and the interview is at 11... arriving 3 hours late and blaming it on a w*nk in the shower would be a bit risky.

Nova-Flair
11-11-03, 11:16 AM
yeah the wank in the shower excuse is the best one. can be used for all occasions where timekeeping is an issue!

late for work - 'oh im sorry just had to have a wank in the shower'

late for that date with the lass u have been trying to get with for ages- 'sorry i got the urge to splurge in the shower again'

...........wouldnt use it if u were late for a funeral though. could be a bit dodgy

lmfao @ me being a workaholic.

if i manage to get this job i will be working between 24 & 48 hours per week... with the emphasis being the lower end of the scale and the 48 hours being there in case of crisis lol. Similar money to what i am earning now except that at the moment i am contracted to do a 48 hour week and over the next 2 months that will escalate to anything u to 70 hours per week, if i work hard.

I want outta here before that happens - some times last year i wasnt getting home until midnight. Its not big n its not clever. I want a nice easy IT job!

Nova-Flair

u r a workaholic to work 48 hrs a week contracted hrs!

jkhilton

I work 48 contracted hours a week, but the thing is, I do 2 days and 2 nights and then have 4 days off. so realistically I only really do 24 hours a week as the nights are spent playing on an xbox or watching movies that people have downloaded.

GOD I LOVE I.T.!!!!

just thought aswell, as it's 4 days on, 4days off, I only work for 6 months of the year, but I also get about 22 days holiday, so in theory I work for around 5 months of the year! lol. also as it's shifts, I am taking 8 days holiday in January, but I actually get 21 days off! :D :D :D :D :D

Nova-Flair

wish i could have a job like that! bet its reasonably well paid as well being I.T

wisewood
11-11-03, 03:43 PM
You get paid extra for working the shifts too?
I used to when i started working here before they got rid of everyone else and jsut left me to manage all on my own

Although March 2000 with shift pay and everything i was on slightly less than i now earn on my own working days.

wisewood

After all of that > i have solved the problem without having to tell any lies at all.

I simply walked up to a team leader and said "I have to pop out for an hour or so tomorrow morning, so will be in a little bit early to stop myself from falling behind." He said no problem lol.

Never asked me why or anything lmfao.

continental shift patterns are normally used when the company needs "full" staffing levels 24hrs a day

they run 4 shifts each 2 days offset so theres always a full shift working at any point in time :)

my maw used to work in a semiconductor factory and they run those shifts for that reason - they cant shut the fabs down just cos its night time
