n e 1 know the purpose of de-seaming the windows? what is involved in this job?does it involve removing those lovely!! black rubber seals?? Also if the windows r de-seamed is it still ok 2 get the roof de-guttered? (will there be n e leaking inn). thanx!!

i guess by no-ones reply no ones quite sure what you mean. de-seaming windows to me sounds more harm than good. the gutter kinda needs to stay on the car; it holds youre roof up. remove any seals or rubber and you are gonna get leaks i suppose. i mean it doesnt just apply to cars does it.?

if you mean removing the guttering along the top of the window that runs the length of the car then yes it can be removed, only trouble is its part of what holds the roof to the shell but if grinded back carefully to not damage the seam and properly smoothed over it can be done.

i have been thinkin if its possible to weld the gutter seam from the inside of the roof instead where it'll be covered by the roof lining then you could grind the exterior bit flat completely

would look smart if you could do it, nice and smooth.

only eager eyes would spot it, cost a bomb, no-body shop in their right mind would take it on, and it would piss thru the door gaps.
nothing to attach roof rack to neither.

This whole post reeks of ''i read about this being done on someones car, and want it done on mine, but don't know what the fuck it is''.

I prefer posts of ''i want [this] doing, HOW is it done...''.

I was going to have it done on mine, but the guy doing the car said it is a hell of a lot of work.

Said u basically have to go a long and weld the roof back on. For something only a few people will recognise he said it wasnt worth it.

I still want it done, just couldnt afford it when car was done.

I personally think its cool. As it makes everything look so much smoother and different but people dont know why.

Go get it done. Infact I think I will do when i can afford to.

i would think surely it would be possible to weld it from the inside meaning you wouldnt see it as the roof lining etc would hide it, may well give my local scrappers a few quid for a rotten shell to try it on

I was going to have the roof de-seamed on mine too. But it's not worth the hassle for the little effect it gives.

The roof skin is very thin, so easy to burn when welding and that roof gutter is where the roof is joined to the rest of the car.
