Hello
do you tint your own windows with stick on plastic, do you need to remove the glass from the door, or can you just stick them straight on,
and have you got any pictures of window tints that you have done this way
thanks for your help

the kits you buy to do them yourself are to be fitted with the windows in the car. if your gonna do it yourself you need a huge amount of patience. basically get your self a spray bottle and put warm soapy water in it, then spray the mixture all over the window and use loads, then put the film up to the window and cut it to shape. once it is in place gently start to squeeze the water out with a credit card from top to bottom be very careful or you will end up with ripples and bubbles in it then leave it for a week without opening the windows

when i did mine i took all the windows out the front and rear sides r a piece of pish but the back was an absolute nightmare had 3 attempts at it before givin up.
because of the curve in it i found it imposible 2 get the water out.
a mate told me the best way is 2 cut it in2 strips or at least 3 pieces.

so am gunna let a profesional do mine got a quote of ?30 if i provide the tint.

dont try it if you have a short temper, or things will get broken :)

the pre cut kits are pritty easy to fit, as you dont have to remove the windows. But the films real easy to crease and there will always be that one bubble that you can get ridof.

one best left to the pros

the only thing is with keeping it pro is evri1 forgets once upon a time the pros couldnt do it, they just decided to give it a go and found they were good at it, how do you no your not just as good if you dont give it a go?

the pros do several cars a day every day of the week. i think theres a slight possibility that you wont be as good as them

what im saying is when the pro's 1st started they had never done a car just like us and they managed it and obviously now make a living from it so its impossible to say you wont make a good job of it so dont bother doing it, if you beleive u can do it give it a go, worst that happens is you lose ?40 and a lesson is learned

The only way you get better at something is practice, practice, practice. I'm sure the profesionals were doing the window tints for friends before they thought "im good enough to do this for a living". We pay so called proffesionals to do a job for this reason, they are good at it. If they are running a business then they need to do a good job, otherwise they wont get the work and wont have a business.

Attempting to do things by yourself is the only way you learn how to do something, but you need to have patience and the understanding that you wont get it right first time round. Or, if you do get it right, you soon learn of better methods on how to do the work. Eventually you will become good at the task and will feel confident doing the work for other people.

Going back to the window tints...I walked past a car today that looked pretty good at first glance, it was black, with blacked out windows, nice alloys and clear rear lights. As I got closer to the car I noticed the window tints were peeling away all round the edge of the rear window. It stood out like you wouldn't believe. Such a shame.

Breenys car in the feature section (Turbos) has had its windows tinted by the proffesionals and it looks very good. No peels, no bubbles, it's pretty much flawless. I'm only commenting on breenys car because I've seen it in the flesh a number of times, I'm sure there are other cars on the site with just as good a job.

You take your chance with modding. You either attempt it yourself (more fun, but risky), or pay someone to do it (more expensive, but safer).

i done mine myself, but i have two layers of tint on mine, not just one! , layer of blue then silver on the top of it, i never done my back window just for the fact it would be to much a hassle for me. its worth the attempt at least u can say u tried.
