Limp to a bodyshop and get them flared. Either that or the offset (et) is way out on your wheels. This should be stamped on the inside of them. Take a wheel off & see if theres an et number. Anything lower than 49 is the measurement of how many mm the wheel is gonna stick out beyond the ideal. Remember that you are also running wheels upto 2.5" wider than the car came with! Et 49 wheels are hard to come by.

if they're rubbing take the wheel's off and you'll see the mark's then you'll know what part to work on
17" isn't stupid it's bigger where people go to stupid length's to make them fit and when they finish they look the equivalant of a penny farthing (the big wheel)
16"s = the perfect size for Nova rims, they look good, don't rub (If you get the correct offset), tyres are still affordable, handles well, reasonable comfortable.
