new gear knob...

this is a stupid question:

i just bought a new gear knob for my nova but i aint sure how to remove the old one. do they unscrew or is there any other way to remove it?

Mine pulled off (oo eerr). Some people have to cut into the standard gearknob to get it off, some twist off, seems to be individual to each car.

Pull really hard and twist. you should get the desired effect

just pull and twist it, but some people chop the bar down to make it look better, upto u mate.

the official(correct?!) way is to remove the entire shaft by undoing the pinch bolt underneath and then sticking the knob in boiling water for 5 mins

it then should simply pull off

i hacksawed it off as it makes the shaft shorter and gives a kind of quick shift feel. :wink:
